OTs For Action Team
Erin Carroll, Founder
I am excited and humbled to be starting this journey of action through community. I chose to study occupational therapy after working for an amazing recreational therapy program in Omaha, NE, and am continually inspired by what occupational therapy can do to help heal our world.
For me, social justice and occupational therapy fit hand in hand.To me, access to occupations and the ability to engage in activities is a fundamental right of any human being. I am ready to work with others for change so that individuals and communities have access to occupational justice.

I believe engagement in meaningful occupations helps define who we are, contributes to overall well-being, and is a fundamental human right. I became an OT and joined this effort to help carry out my contention that everyone deserves the opportunity to explore and engage in personally meaningful roles and activities to the best of their ability. I believe through an awareness of intersectionality, we can better acknowledge and ground the differences between us, which can only make us better health care practitioners. Though I identify as queer and polyamorous, I believe itβs important to disclose the ways I fit into dominant culture, such as being white, cis-gendered, able-bodied, raised middle class, educated and having English as my first language.
